Where can I see and make adjustments to my coverage?
To see your actual coverage, or make adjustments to your sub-limits, such as responsibility or physical damage, you must enter your personal profile.
Where are my personal responsibility limits stated?
Personal responsibility limits refer to bodily injury and physical harm. Bear in mind that your personal responsibility limit options are for a coverage plan that pays for injuries and damages to others caused by an insured driver. We recommend you review your limits in order to make sure that you have sufficient coverage, relating your financial and personal capital, so that you avoid the possibility of having to handle expenditures out of your own pocket.
Am I covered if driving somebody else’s car?
Your Velox24 policy covers you, if driving someone else’s vehicle, under the following situations: a. If you have the owners’ permission to drive the car; b. If the car owner agrees with the purpose for which you are driving the car; c. If it is not accustomed for you to use that car. If the incident is covered, the specific coverage, limits and deductibles under your policy would apply. Typically, the car owner’s policy is the one that applies first in case of any accident. Having said that, under some circumstances, Velox24 coverage may also apply. This is known as secondary or excessive coverage, since it covers the costs that are beyond the limits of the car owners’ policy.
What if someone’s driving my car, will my policy cover it?
Generally, when one lends a car to a driver that is not listed in the policy, the claim is recognized as long as the person has your permission to drive your vehicle and is driving it for a purpose authorized by you. Normal specifications, limits and deductibles that have been established for your policy would apply. In most of these situation, your insurance (with Velox 24) would provide primary coverage for the accident. If the person driving your vehicle has his own insurance, it would be regarded as secondary coverage and would only be applied in case all limits have been reached under your Velox24 policy. If you plan on lending your car to someone for a period over 30 days, or if the person lives in your residence and is not listed under your Velox24 policy, we recommend you add that person as a driver for your vehicle, or provide information about him on your policy through your profile at Velox24.com. Please, don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any doubts, at 787.777.5050.
Does my policy cover me if I am driving in another country?
Your Velox24 policy applies only to loses and incidents that occur in Puerto Rico, the United States and its other territories, and Canada. Please, review the ‘Conditions’ segment of your plan to confirm in which specific areas your policy coverage applies.
How much limit do I need to cover for responsibility?
Your responsibility coverage pays for damages to third persons caused by you or by another driver that is listed in your policy. You need to choose limits that adequately protect your personal and financial capital, such as your home, savings and retirement accounts, among others. Remember, if you have any doubt or concerns, you can easily contact us at 787-777-5050.
What’s the Physical Damage coverage?
The Physical Damage coverage pays for damages to your vehicle, and generally refers to comprehensive and/or collision damage. For more details on these policy options, you may access your profile on this website. If you have any further doubts or concerns, you may also contact us at 787-777-5050.
What does the Comprehensive Damages section cover?
This coverage pays for damages caused by incidents other than an accident with another vehicle, such as theft, fire, falling objects, storms, vandalism or accidents involving animals. It may also cover expenses in case of windshield fracture. The ‘other than collision’ coverage usually carries a deductible of around $500. Remember, the higher the deductible, the lower the premium.
What does the Collision Damage coverage cover?
Collision coverage pays for damages to your vehicle caused in an accident, or in contact with another vehicle or stationary object. Each case under this coverage will have a pre-established deductible on your policy. Remember, the higher the deductible, the lower the premium.
Do I have to have both Collision Damage and Comprehensive coverage?
It depends. If you are financing or leasing your car, it is likely that you will need both coverages. Institutions providing these services usually require that the person obtains both insurances. We suggest you review your contract or contact your leaser to verify which coverage options will be required. Having said that, it is possible to obtain each individually. If you have any doubts, please call us at 787-777-5050.
If my vehicle is not new, do I still need both Collision Damage and Comprehensive coverage?
These are considered physical damage coverage options. The following are some examples that may help you: a. In most cases, if your car is leased or financed, the institution requires that you include both. b. Even though excluding either option results in a lower premium, you must be aware that you will be held responsible for any repair your vehicle may need after an accident.
How can I decide which deductibles to choose, regarding different policy coverage options?
The higher your deductible, the lower the premium for said coverage. The decision depends on how much responsibility you are able and willing to assume in case of an accident. When your car is to be repaired after an accident, the insured person is responsible for paying the deductible amount that was originally chosen. Each person must determine which is best according to circumstances.
